Paint Increases Home ROI

The Return on Investment Can Be Great with Paint

Painting the INTERIOR of your home can result in a 107% ROI while painting the EXTERIOR of your home can yield a 55% ROI. These increases are if the homeowner does the painting. On average, interior painting will cost $967.00 and will offer a $2001.00 increase in value.

Selecting neutral colors will make it easier for potential buyers to visualize themselves living in the space and neutral colors will go with any color of furnishings. Painting smaller rooms a lighter color will give the illusion of the room feeling larger, while paining a larger room a bit darker color will give the room a cozy feel.

Paint quality and finish matter greatly. Select the best quality you can afford along with the best rollers and brushes as the higher the quality, the better the results will be. Selecting a flat or satin finish will work best on long walls where nail pops will be hidden better. Semi-gloss on trim and moldings will help with the cleaning of fingerprints and dust removal.

When painting the exterior of the home, it is recommended to use no more than 3 colors. Use the 60/30/10 rule: paint 60% (the body) of the home, 30% (the garage doors and trim) and 10% (front door and shutters) in a pleasing combination of colors that work with your roof color and will accent any exterior features your home may have such as brick, stone or shingles.
